Palmanova Hospital Italy to Razdrto, Slovenia

We departed our overnight parking site in Aquileia for the nearest hospital which was in Palmanova about 10k away. Trish had been in a lot of pain from an infection has not been well for a few days.

After an hour Trish was seen by a Doctor and we were back on the road heading for the nearby small town of Aiello del Friuli for a Pharmacy the only Pharmacy that would be open that day in the region. We had to wait an hour or so in Aiello for the Pharmacy to open at 3:30. With medicine in hand we started our journey toward Slovenia.

Later that day we passed through the Slovenia border, again no one on duty so on we drove. Motorway Vignette cannot be used for vehicles over 3500kg so we had to pay tolls at the toll booths. Our first ‘heavy vehicle’ toll for using the motorway after the Slovenian was EUR 4.50 less than we were expecting.

Steven found the roads in Slovenia a breath of fresh air after driving through Italy as there was not much traffic to contend with.

Italy to Slovenia

We passed by forests, mountains, vine yards, valleys and small villages arriving at our destination of the small village Razdrto about 6pm. Razdrto is at the southern slopes of Mount Nanos in the  Municipality Postojna in Slovenia. We picked this town as it was close to both the Skocjan Caves and the Postojnska Caves which we plan to visit tomorrow.

We stopped at the Paulinova Klet Wellness Centre and Camping and were warmly welcomed by the bartender and shown to the camping grounds. We selected a spot under some trees and were the only ones here.

After settling in we noticed the trees were walnut trees. After collecting a bag full of walnuts! We made our way to the bar/restaurant and passed the evening with a glass of wine and joined the barman and one other customer watching a Slovenian Talent Quest show on TV.

Still clear blue skies but it is getting Cold now!!!
